I forskarvärlden tvistas det om hobbitarnas ursprung. Uppenbarligen har de inte läst på. Men här finns det hjälp - på Wikipedia kan man läsa:

According to The Lord of the Rings, they have lost the genealogical details of how they are related to the rest of mankind.
